New to this!

Shawn & Gavin on the Riverwalk in San Antonio

Gavin & I in San Antonio July 2008

I am new to this blogging world, but I thought I would give it a try. I was actually inspired by a fellow blogger on here, KellysKorner. I was led to her blog by a friend who was praying for her and her family. She had just had a baby and precious Harper was having some complications. They were asking for prayer for their new addition. I cried when I read her story. She seems to be an amazin lady, and I continue to follow her story and pray for the healing of her child.

I am a first grade teacher and I love the computer. I love being able to find anything anytime on the internet. I love myspace and facebook. Being able to stay in contact with old friends, new friends, family and schoolmates is amazing. Seeing pictures of their kids, reading about what is going on in their lives is pretty cool. I have always loved to read biographies. I love reading about how people live, what they are interested in, problems and how they overcome them have always fascinated me. I love people.

Well about me. I am married to my wonderful husband Shawn, January 27th, will be when we celebrate being together for 8 years. On June 16th 2004 we were blessed with the most precious gift from heaven, our son, Gavin. Although not planned, I never call him an "accident" as so often heard of children that were not planned for. I am truly blessed to be a mom. It is the greatest job in the world. He is truly a joy. He not only changed our lives, but enahanced it for the better.

As I said, I am a teacher. I teach first grade and wouldn't trade it for the world. I have the opportunity to make a difference in so many lives that will shape our future, afterall, they are our future. I am amazed daily by the eagerness to learn and grow. I have a rule in my class, and it is to have fun learning. That is exactly what I hope they always take with them. The joy of learning something new. It is exciting to watch their growth, from the begining of the year to the end.

Tomorrow is Martin Luther King's holiday. I will be working, but the kids have the day off. They need a break. Nowdays, kids have to grow up so fast, and are expected to do so much, a day off now and then is needed! I hope they enjoy just "being a kid!" The staff at school is having a pot luck lunch tomorrow as well and I just finished making a wonderful dish of chicken spaghetti. It smells wonderful!

Well I will post more later. My first official blogging experience! Check!
